this week journal entry is about a women who was drunk driving and she had killed a man. i found this article important because it always seems like the drunk driver escapes with there life and like there never harmed. i will never understand why people drink. from my perspective drinking is not something that you do to get drunk drinking is suppose to be a relax event chilling. Now drinking is something where people drink to get drunk and stuff like i dont understan how someone could just be so selfish and only think of them selves in hurt there bodies and stuff like i find it funny when people go around saying oh im going to get wasted and junk. i think to my self wow like why do you do this to your body whats the point of drinking. i honestly think more articles should be up on the TV and internet to get a better picture to put some thought in peoples heads. this women killed this man because of her decsion to drink this man could had a family. i mean if this man had a family he lost his life for nothing she just killed this man and tore him away from his family. shes going to have to live with it for the rest of her life. i understand that but its just sad to see she was 18 and she basically just began life and now its gone over one stupid decision which is why i always make sure i think things threw which is one of the reasons i don’t smoke or drink.

i began reading the article called the “cycle of socialization” I thought it was going to be very interesting thought it was going to bring up something i never knew. this article I am reading is basically the breaking down of people and how they act. first thing i thought this is going to be dull and it was it was boring i already knew all this stuff. all this article is doing is just going in to greater detail and or depth. the first like paragraph is about life and how your not able to pick and chose what you want to be its a guess. i mean i know this just because of school they beat it in our heads every year that your going to have genes that your mom and dad passed over to you and have dominant traits and what not. i feel like there explaining something that already common knowledge. also they go in to saying how everyone’s different i know that also i have a mom saying that all the time yes people might have the interest but there still different in there own particular way. is what makes us humans unique. Then it talks about how kids grow up it basically depends where and who they grew up with i say becasue that person or people going to be main influence on you when your younger. then the second part of this talks about when you adventure out side of your home and you learn about people and what they find is normal and not and how your immediately put in groups in high school. this is pointless im sure all of us know this already because were in college now. I am positive that you could ask a 5 th grader to name the smart kids from the bully’s and stuff. another aspect that i am getting from this is that its saying people go through different things so its what make people different and those different thing can be good and bad i feel as if that is was the whole point of this story just alot of non needed things just to stretch the story by repeating the same stuff.

From what i learned activism and service they are have there similarities and there differences.Service in my opinion is something you do to help someone like a food service as an a example like your getting something for it. activism to me is like more a politic thing you do the book work to help the problem or solve it. From class i learned when using a service you do something and get paid for it. i feel like that’s true because all the things that are called service. Activism is something that you do just because you can and because you want to. honestly i dint know what activism meant but when listening to other class mates and teachers i understood how activism just sounds like its bad but in reality its not it just as good. service and activism are both good things depending on what they are of course but they both for the most part mean well.

While i was reading “village Voice” by Peter Hessler i feel like this is a very inspirational story about a guy named Rajeev Goyal who was a man who helped the world in anyway he could with a organization call the Peace Crops. the peace corps help people who don’t have everyday things like we do such a clean water, food ,and clean clothes. It was also good to see Raheev got congress to agree to increase funds going to this organization which i think would improve things and be able to give them more of what they need. i was also surprised to see that beyonce and jay z helping out the peace corps so much. if i didn’t read this then i think i would of never known just because it was never announced by jay z or beyonce. i liked how his parents parents wanted him to become a doctor but instead he did something that he enjoyed doing and had a passion for it instead of just doing what his parents want him to do to make them happy. Rajeev thought of a way to get clean water in the place he was located which was Nepal because to get clean water they had to walk 2 hours away just to get clean water. So Rahjeev thought of this excellent plan to get water but in order to do that he had to raise money so he had a dinner with his doctor friends and family and raised money. Which i thought was a very good idea. from reading this it just makes me wonder if more people were like this would it make the world a better place this man Rajeev Goyal is 1 in a million you don’t just see everyday someone making a change like this helping putting his time and effort in to something that he has nothing to do with. In my opinion it shows where his heart truly is. it also shows how much he actually care. i wish i could meet this man and tell him thanks even tho it might not have benefit me personally but it benefited other people who really need it.

The “who should survive” exercise made me think more than just who but why. i think it was great assignment just because it made you think about something that you wouldn’t usually think about. it made you think out the box it gave you the choice of who should survive and who should go you had to think almost as if you were in the situation. what would you need to start a new city? i think it was to keep us awake and keep us constantly thinking not just thinking oh ok i can take off these too people but what if that person had a daughter would want to separate her from her daughter? or vise verse and take the mother away from here daughter? i thought this was something i had put my self in each persons shoes and try and understand how they would feel about losing a family member because if you lost one person wouldn’t that person feel horrible and why would you want to lose someone? the main objective of this assignment was to get you think about what you are doing. which made this assignment so challenging and when hearing other peoples opinions to because it makes you think even further into what you should do and if it would be the right choice to make. i know i couldn’t make this choice if i had i would make my self go before anyone else. i don’t think i would be able to take someone else life if they done nothing wrong. i think overall this was a excellent activity i hope we do more like this because it helped me think and made me make critical choices

i think the first story by Dave Eggers was hard for me to grasp on and get what he what the story meant it was a very detailed story. what i did grab from the story this man was just a normal guy looking for something to do maybe he was bored that’s why he was pacing around and he was simply was just looking for something to do basically. Then he grabbed the paper and was reading it and felt the solider that was described in the paper was violated and he looked at it as if this cant be happening in my country like he wanted to do something about it. The next story I read by David Eggers was really funny it was a father talking to his child about what him and his mother did up to the point where they got married like the first story it was very detailed and this one had a lot more humor to it I think it was the best outta the two just because it made me laugh. I think this story was a little odd too because the way it was told it wasn’t told like other stories like dad said this and that it was told from one perspective and that was the dad. I got confused at some parts because the author made it seem like it other people were talking randomly and stuff. But over all I liked both stories one was more serious than the other which I don’t get. I think both stories were about helping someone or something or basically just doing something to make a difference

You know how you have something or someone in your life that you are willing to do anything for? That thing you love the most like your family or a pet. I mean I know who I would die for take a bullet for anything that’s just how much I love them putting my own life on the line. I would kill someone and spend the rest of my life in jail if someone harmed some one dear to me or close to me. Everyone lives for different things but I live for people who are worth living for not for money drugs women things like family love and religion. The things that are most valuable in your life what are you wiling to do for them? what are you willing to sacrifice? (More …)

i think ecological Literate means you understand how things work move live in the ecosystem. such as a biologist of some sort or someone who has great knowledge of the ecosystem. the person who is a ecological Literate would be able to write a book on it and explain everything how things work and teach and help others understand what he is teaching. i also think a ecological person has to have love for nature its self and its beauty. a ecological person would be able to see the environment in totally different way than anyone else would see it. to become ecological literate you would have to love the earth a lot and be able to do small things and get other people to help with those things such as picking up plastic or picking up garbage from the ground recycling. a person who would become ecological literate would be able to understand the environment and the things around it. they would also have to be able to get along with other humans and share the love they have the ecosystems and also be able to have more people help them protect the world. its a worldwide effort if we all don’t help then there’s no hope but if we do help there will be hope just because the sometimes small things make a big difference in the world. Basically have broad knowledge of living organisms and there functions. i think i am not ecological Literate because of how much i know about the ecosystem i know the basic stuff like sun gives energy to all living things kind of things. another way is picking up trash i see recycling when i can small things like that can help the world.

I liked the route you took in this essay. There are many people that are in abusive relationships or just getting abused and dont know how to get out the situation. I agree when you said abuse is not just violent but also verbal. Words hurt just as much as physical abuse and thats what many people seem not to understand. People should watch what they say cause words can scare a person as well. You mentioned how some people dont help others who are getting abused but at the same you have to take into consideration do that abused person want to help themselfs? It may sound shelfish but you cant help a person that doesnt want to help themself. For instance you cant help a person whose in a abusive relationship that keeps going back to that person knowing their going to keep getting abused. Overall I enjoyed reading your essay. You brought up some good points.
